A new industry initiative was launched by the IAKS Executive Board on 24.06.2013 with an exchange of information and views. The initiative shall enable IAKS members such as manufacturers, suppliers, designers, builders and operators of sports and leisure facilities to have a better networking with each other.
Horst Huber, Vice President of the IAKS and Chairman of the Advisory Board of FSB, welcomed representatives from the various industry segments in the Koelnmesse trade fair tower. IAKS Managing Director Klaus Meinel explained the existing network structures within the IAKS and reported on activities to develop new markets in recent years.
Bettina Frias, project manager of the FSB Fair, gave an outlook on the FSB 2013 and pointed to the wide range of sports and leisure industry. She underlined the importance of market places such as trade fairs, which allow all industry parties to gather professional experience and to get new business contacts. The great demand for such activities is significantly illustrated by the continuing growth of FSB 2013 compared to 2011.
The participants of the industry meeting agreed to organize future network activities in the following three areas:
- Pools and wellness resorts
- Indoor sport and leisure facilities (arenas, gymnasiums, sports centers, etc.)
- Outdoor sport and leisure facilities (stadiums, outdoor sports facilities, urban open spaces for physical activities, etc.)
The initiative will focus initially on innovations and technological developments in the different segments of the industry, by also providing intensive exchanges with relevant IAKS partner organizations.
IAKS Vice President Horst Huber announced that a next industry meeting will be held before FSB 2013. IAKS will invite all interested industry leaders.
