On day two of the Congress, the focus lay on excellence in sports and leisure facilities. Prof. Geraint John, Honorary President of the Sports and Leisure Working Group at the International Union of Architects, first moderated a discussion on the post-games use of the venues from London 2012.

23rd IAKS Congress: A retrospective - Inclusive design and accessibility

The first congress session was devoted to the topic of inclusion in grassroots sports and leisure facilities. Chaired by Apostolos Rigas, Head of Paralympic Games Strategic Projects at the IPC, it looked at advances in inclusive planning at the Olympic and Paralympic Games, challenges with accessibility to temporary event structures and “invisible barriers” in sport.
