SportAccord Convention 2014 wraps up in Belek / Antalya

The 12th annual SportAccord Convention was held from April 6-11 at the Susesi Convention Centre in Belek/Antalya, Turkey. It attracted 1,636 attendees representing 78 nationalities from around the world. An impressive proportion of one fourth of all the delegates to the world sport summit was newcomers to the event with 410 participants attending the Convention for the first time.

Leopold Wagner Arena in Klagenfurt

Klagenfurt’s athletics facility known as the Leopold Wagner Arena is situated within sight of the football stadium built for the 2008 European Championship. Screening off the busy trunk road to the south, the two-storey functional building with its elongated access ramp has been sensitively embedded in the topography and blends unassumingly into the surrounding natural and built-up environment.

On its fourth and final day, the IAKS Congress directed its discussions towards providing activating spaces in urban environments. Stefan Siebert moderated the five presentations. Prof. Dr. Robin Kähler spoke about local sports structures in large cities and their contribution to urban development.
